Texas P-rideee

2009 June 25

Wow, thank you all so much for the bbq sauce recommendations. Let’s just say i’m officially addicted to Amy’s Texas Burgers (go….buy….now if you’re into that smoky, bbq-sauce flavor), and i’m seriously dissapointed that there are only 4 servings per box. Those Amy’s burgers may cost a pretty penny, but I find them completely worth it. I did not even KNOW that I was into this type of thing. Vegetarians don’t typically eat ribs and chicken smothered in bbq sauce, so i’ve never really needed to use it! I never learned how to “cut” foods till I was older either, since I never needed to hack open a chicken breast or stack of ribs! Ya feel me??

Anyway, take a look at last night’s mouthgasmic dinner.

I just threw some Sabra Roasted Garlic hummus, lettuce, tomatoes and an Amy’s Texas Burger into the wrap, drizzled it with bbq sauce (spicy, organic & no suga-added!), and called it complete. I was eating this alone, but kid you not……just kept telling myself how amazing it was, over and over again…..such a weirdo.

Here are some of my other eats:

quesadilla (w/ pepperjack cheese), sauteed veggies, blue corn tortilla chips, salsa

Had the quesadilla platter w/ some internship-inspired Lentil Soup! Mmm, home-made soup is good.

lentil soup!

home-made trail mix....TO GO

home-made trail mix....TO GO

Brought this trail mix (carob chips, shredded spoonfuls, pb puffins, tj’s sesame almonds + an apple) to Andrea’s for the Real Housewives NJ Reunion. Enough with Danielle and THE BOOK. I’m over it. But still loved this episode, and can’t wait for round dos, tonight! After the show, we headed over to our friend Sean’s house for a little Beer Pong. It was like, 11 guyes….and us 3 girls? Apparently they love the added estrogen. It was the perfect night in my book….lazinggg around + tv, AND going out, socializing with friends.

blueberry oats! Made of water, blubes, WCW, tj's blueberry ground flax & oatmeal

lunch: GM, sandwich, Bbq rice chips

lunch: GM, sandwich, Bbq rice chips

In the GM: 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, handful of spinach, 5-6 ice cubes, 1/2 a banana, handful of strawberries, & vanilla protein powder.

And in the sandwich: melted pepperjack cheese, dijon and tomato in a toasty lil’ english muffin.

I work, work, worked at Jamba after this meal…and snacked on a Cashew Cookie larabar (fave) while maaa girls visited me on my 10 minute break. They’re so sweet (and feelin’ the summer boredom!).

After work I had that amazingness of a dinner posted above, then headed over to Andrea’s for some Real World: Cancun action. Does this not remind you of the Las Vegas season? I’d only watch it when my parent’s were gone, since this girl was not aloud to watch such scandalous, profanity-filled shows back in the day (!!). Haha…..We did our girl thing, watched tv, snacked on cereal (cheerios + milk!), then headed back to Sean’s for more BP. Let’s just say I was serious entertainment for the night.

I killed it in some “table tennis” (made the partner drink for me, again…they love it) and put on quite the show when the boys tried to teach me the “jerk dance” . But I was sober (by the way!!), since this girl had to eventually drive home. If only you could see the vids the boys took on their cell phones. You’d love it. We called my version the “Jessica Jerk”….hahahahaha.

And this morning’s breakfast:

yogurt oats !!

yogurt oats!

Oats, 1/2 a wallaby blueberry yogurt, Maranthana peanut butter, tj’s blueberry ground flax, 1/2 a banana

+ the usual sides, note the pretty cup reflection :-D

So last night was really fun, to say the least….but we were a tad rebellious (haha….) and got home a little too late for our parent’s liking. Our 1 o’ clock curfew is now strictly enforced. Great.

And so (moral of this post is….) if you’re bored and needing something to do today, learn the “jerk dance”…… ;)

I’m off to shop (till’ I drop….) for clothes, and food. Of course.

Hope you’re all having lovely Thursdays! It’s almost Friday, get exciteddd…. not that I have any mayyjuh plans or anything…. :-D

Much love, Jess

    Homemade trail mix = killer!

  7. 2009 June 25

that lentil soup looks SO good! recipe, please? i’ve never made homemade soup!

  8. 2009 June 25

Hahah – “just kept telling myself how amazing it was”! I’m the same way! I’m always like, “Ohhh yum!!”

Yes the RW reminds me of Vegas and, don’t hate me, I’m not a fan…yet! I’ll give it some time but K liked NY and this is the polar opposite of NY.

Have fun spending the moolah & hanging out with the boys :) Kill ‘em in BP!!

I am totally feeling ya, I’ve been a vegetartian since I was little and bbq sauce is something I always associated wiht meat, but I’ll have to try it now as everyone in blogworld is raving about it! Same with old bay seasoning, as a Maryland girl I always associated it with crabs, but last year I tasted on fries and realized it’s really just a complex, delicious mix of spices with so many more uses than meat!

Burrrittooooos and quesadillaaaaas. Holy Mexicano. Well sort of burrito. But ya know. Looks mad delicious. If I weren’t so darn full I might go make myself one right now. If I had them Texas burgs which I don’t. I need to FIND them!

Some day I will learn and OWN the jerk dance.

  11. 2009 June 26

I just tried those Amy’s burgers yesterday and man are they good! The price does stink though :(

  12. 2009 June 26

Haha – sounds like a good day! Its sweet that your friends visited you even if your break was only 10 mins! And sound like you’re an awesome table tennis player. You go girl :-)

I’m checking out the jerk dance now. If its anything as hilarious as shoes, this thing will make my day!

Am wishing we had some of burger’s – your wrap seriously looks so good.

Aw hell, I’ll try to learn any dance! I’ve never even heard that song. As Brookebaby said up there, we’re having a dance lesson tomorrow night in preparation for the weekend. Word.

I’ve never seen those Amy’s burgers anywhere! Oh wait, they prob have em at WF, but I cannot afford that. I bought a $24 dress this week, which means I have $24 fewer dollas to spend on food. Why am I not making any money again? Grrr.

    Have a faaaab Thursday lovepie!
