Snack Happy

2009 October 2

Hi girls! Today’s been a fab day. It was exactly what I needed after a super intense, stressful, annoying week. I was constantly studying for tests, scheduling my life around when I could study/ finish that homework assignment/read that chapter, etc…and I also had to craft for my future lil’ sis! She’s gonna love all her sorority gear and presents…..it’s all supposed to be may-juh bling bling; blue tones, rhinestones and lotssss o’ chocolate. We spoil them for 5 days straight (money in da bankk), then take them out Friday night ! Last year was so fun-since you know, I was the one getting spoiled.

Anyway, so I know this blog is called jesslikeitHOT (super awkward, trying to figure out a new name..ideas?), but I haven’t been devouring many of my fave, spicy foods lately. I have been doing a lot of snacking though! A girl’s gotta have her late-night snacks to accompany all that online tv watching & blog reading studying!

yogurt mess!!

yogurt mess!!

Brown cow greek yogurt + chopped gala + cinn + shredded spoonfuls/annie’s honey bunnies + a drizzle of almond butta….divine.

caught in the act.

caught in the act.

Well, helloooo lover. Did you know Mr. Chuck Bass has an accent in real life?! Ooooh, I love it.

goji berries!

goji berries!

Okay, so this wasn’t a snack…this was breakfast! 1/2 a cup quick oats + ~ 1 cup water + cinn + goji berries + peanut butter!! I am loving these goji berries. They’re supa sweet, but not overly so! And perfect when my house’s fruit bowl is only stocked with overly-ripe bananas. Yuck.

mid-day snackage

mid-day snackage

Holy moly! I’m obsessed with this popcorn. It’s from Whole Foods, and seasoned with mushroom powder, onion, celery seed, black pepper, salt, garlic, cumin, parsley, rosemary, basil & paprika. The stats are amazing… plus, it’s volume-eating at it’s finest :-D

cottage cheese mess

cottage cheese mess!

Changin’ it up (you know, from the usual yogurt and gala apple, hellloooo)! Green apple + cottage cheese + cinn + a dash of tj’s pumpkin spice (love) and Ezekiel Cinnamon Raisin Granola (best. granola. ever).

And for the lasttt of my pictures, but not least…!? The delicious, voluminous, sweet n’ salty snack I just happily munched on:

looooove in a bowl, no?

more, please

In the bowl: Whole Food’s Herb Natural Popcorn, goji berries, carob chips, cashews & Annie’s Cinnamon Bunnies. Sometimes I ate a piece of each flav together, sometimes I ate ‘em separately. It was wonderful.

beautiful

beautiful

Who needs a boyfriend when you can have this?! Ha ha….that was extremely pathetic. Maybe I could use a boyfriend right now.

So i’ve got three papers and three reading assignments to accomplish by next week, more crafting to do, and a weekend to enjoy!! I’m sure they’ll be some frat-hopping, dancin’ and coffee involved. Have no fear.

Oh, but before I go!! Question: What’s your favorite soup brand/flavor & tea of choice?! It won’t get too chilly in Zoni-land for another month or so, but i’m already whipping out the Good Earth Sweet & Spicy Tea, my favorite. I also adore Amy’s Split Pea Soup! Can’t wait to start workin’ soup and tea into my daily routine, once it gets colder! Have a great weekend girls! xoo

Ps-please disregard all of the plastic-bowl usage in this post. I love you, Earth…promise!

Much Love, Jess

Ah, we really are foodie soulmates. I’m sure you saw this coming but OMFG that popcorn. I’m dying. I just tried throwing garlic & chili powder on mine last night–very good, but not enough flavor so I obv resorted to sriracha. But I NEEEEED that.

And your schizo mix looks TDF. Seriously I want a handful of da bunnies, cashews and popcorn all together.

Aaaand AMY’S SPLIT PEA! So so good!!! I think that’s my #2 fave canned. #1 is Amy’s alphabet soup–I lived on it in college and never got sick of it.

I love alll teas–esp. Chai & fun green teas.

Ok, that is all. Have an amazing weekend!

Chuck Bass is a sexy beast. And I totally agree with you.. forget boyfriends, bring on the snack you created! Woo!

I’d like to try these Bunnies I see many people rave about, you’ve officially convinced me to buy a box.

    Hmmm… I adore Amy’s soups. Her Chili’s are delish.

    Have a good weekend :)

BaBygirrrll!!! I am so excited for big and little week! I wanna get as much sorority gear and presents as possible! :) And 80 girls in your PC??? How long did it take to know everyone? I am kinda stressed to know everyone’s name and it’s only 24 altogetha!

Good Earth spicy tea is MY FAV! English breakfast is my second..with a splash of milk! Or tazo awake is also amaze! I NEED to get the sugar cookie tea that everyone raves about!

Amy’s split pea…sooo good! I have a new obsession with soup lately since it’s the only thing at school that is different everyday!

    Love youuu!
ps I have a Q to ask you lata because I need your opinion!

  4. 2009 October 2

Oh man, Chuck Bass is a very good reason to avoid homework. He’s almost as tasty as Trader Joe’s jasmine green tea and Panera’s black bean soup – my absolute faves.

Good luck getting all your work done so you can treat those girls to a fabulous weekend!

  6. 2009 October 2

One of these days I am going to try that popcorn combo!

  7. 2009 October 2

i love popcorn, but I have never heard of that kind! mushroom powder? Sounds awesome!

  8. 2009 October 2

Chuck Bass=Hella yes! His real life British accent is brilliant.

  9. 2009 October 2

yay big little week!!! it’s honestly just as fun to surprise your little(s) (i had twins) as it is to be spoiled yourself! the sneaking around can get stressful though! i want to see all the goodies you bought her!

love all your snackage, makes me hungry!

i’ve actually never had canned soup (my mom always made soup from scratch, so i inherited the trait). but i looooove different teas. i just got celestial seasonings sweet coconut thai chai (that’s a mouthful, twss) and it’s fab to the max! i need to try good earth sweet & spicy next!

  10. 2009 October 2

ummmmm good earth sweet and spicy is my all-time fave tea. the pumpkin spice tea by bigelow is a winner, as is vanilla tea with a splash of milk and drizzle of agave.

all of amy’s soups are amazing. my faves are the black bean and the lentil veg. also, butternut squash soup is one of my faves too. give those a shot.

okay, so i am gchatting with you right now, and still wondering why this didn’t happen sooner. yay for a jess post – brightened up my friday. have a fabby weekend love!

  11. 2009 October 2

Your spicaye popcorn sounds delish! Major blingage?! Niiiiice – if something is sparkly, I HAVE to have it. Or at least stare at it :)

I’m not a tea girl so no help there BUT any of Amy’s soups (with hot sauce of course) are winners in my book!

  12. 2009 October 2

ohh such yummy snackage! dontcha love spoiling your lil sis??? i remember doing a jungle theme one night and totally bought mine a baby tree frog. hmmm that sounds weird but it was pretty awesome, i promise :)

  13. 2009 October 2

    Bonjour!! I missed you!
Your popcorn looks bonkers good. Yowza.
I don’t know about soup. I really like all of Amy’s. Oooh the Amy’s Medium spice Vegetarian Chilli is rocking although technically not soup I guess…
TEA!!! I drink only “english breakfast tea” aka “tea” aka the only tea on the planet (my planet, anyways). I drink Yorkshire tea with MILK (a must) and sugar. It warms my soul.
    Have a wicked weekend! x

OMG, I’m sooo digging the Gossip Girl action. Those delicious snacks were meant to be enjoyed in front of Mr. Handsome Chuck. ;)

That cottage cheese mix is so creative! Seriously, I usually just pile on the black pepper and call it good, but this sounds fabulous!

I’m such an Amy’s soup fan. My favorite is definitely her Organic Black Bean Vegetable or the Organic Low Sodium Lentil.

I didn’t think it was possible to love chuck bass any more until I saw him in a live interview with his real accent.. holy eff, infatuation x’s 48398409.

your lil sis is the luckiest gal in the sorority! wish I could be spoiled rotten by you ;) hell, I wish I could spoil you rotten.. anything to see yo’ face!

mmmm cottage cheese is definitely best in “mess” form. The other day I had grilled chicken (though you could use meat substitue, obv) with cottage cheese and hot sauce (!! you proud?) and hummus and mixed it all up.. ’twas divine, I recommend!

love and miss you honey bunny!! hope all is well in ‘zoniii :)

  17. 2009 October 2

I love Amy’s Light Sodium Cream of Tomato Soup. Only 100 calories per cup and tastes AMAZING. I add all kinds of things to it – cheese is the best as it melts. I also use it as dipping sauces, etc. It is so yummy.

  18. 2009 October 2

Knowing that he has an accent in real life completely turns me on. Love him!! I’m adding that popcorn to my “whole foods” list for when I finally get to one!

  19. 2009 October 2

Chuck Bass’s actual accent = HOT
Snacking + Studying just go together, it’s how it’s gotta be! Love your snacks. I want that popcorn badly!

I want to crack out the soup and tea! I love roasted red pepper soup mmmm. And I think I’m gonna have some hazelnut tea tonight!

  20. 2009 October 2

Your popcorn mix looks absolutely delicious!! I love spice tea or just plain black. And I had Italian wedding soup for lunch today and it was soooo yummy!

    Have a great weekend! :)

So I am back to posting and have actually been doing Vlogs (mostly makeup tutorials!). SO FUN! Check em out babydoll, I think you’d WUV’EM!

I wish you’d post more. Yours are so preshpresh.

-PS- I was in a Sorority at PSU, but it was the mean one and I didn’t find out until I joined. My FB pics have a lot from sorority days. Ugh, I was so miserable with those girls. They were such dictators! Meow!

It’s so refreshing to find out that not all sororities are like that! I did looove Big/Little week though! I have pics from that too, I think. Can’t remember… Whatevz!

Hey Jess!!! So so glad you found my blog–yours is too cool!! Hooray for new bloggy friends! Which sorority are you in? I wish we had a house with a chef….sounds like a great time.

I read your About page…I can definitely relate on taking healthy eating to the extreme. Oh and HUGE tennis fam right here! When there is ANY tournament going on, our TV is constantly rotating between ESPN, Tennis Channel, and CBS/NBC. We all have our own favorite players too so there’s a bit of cheering competition in our house. Andy Roddick=my greatest love of all time.

Looks like we have a lot in common. I can’t wait to sit down and read through your posts!

  25. 2009 October 3

I’ve always wanted to try goji berries but been dissuaded by the price tag. Are they worth the $$?
Favorite brand of soup: Imagine (esp butternut squash)
Kind of tea: blueberry (from TJ’s)

  26. 2009 October 3

I like the TAZO brand teas. They are my all time fave! Amy’s soups rock my socks off.

Did you hear Ed Westwick announce Gossip Girl in his British accent on Monday?! Crazy!!!

You are so cute with your lil sis! Lucky girl. I kind of wish I’d pledged… but we didn’t have a Greek system at my school!

Hmm. For soup, I like Amy’s or Pacific (the kind that comes in a carton… they make really good carrot & bsquash). Tea I like Stash, Yogi, and Zhena’s Gypsy Tea COCONUT CHAI. IT IS SO GOOD.

Good luck getting all your stuff down, girly!

  30. 2009 October 3

Ohhh I am loving all the snackage! It’s too good, too good! You always manage to make me miss cottage cheese and yogurt- blasted! Haha it’s ok, I love my lil’ Jesspie like craze and love that you’re enjoying such scrumptious bowls.

I remember the days when I was dedicated to reading each week’s chapters the week before the class actually occurred. Not happening at the moment. Oops. You inspire me, though!

Oooh, fave teas: Good Earth something Vanilla (sorry I don’t remember the deets), Celestial Seasonings’ Suga Cookie Sleigh Ride + Gingerbread Cookie. Don’t need much else. Aaand soup? Amy’s soups, all day, erryday. The only kind I don’t like of hers is some coconut milk thang that wasn’t chunky enough for me, but still decently flavored.

I hope you’ve had a FABULOUS weekend. I’m sure we be G-chattin it up later. LOVE YOU!

If you make me that snack mix, I may just need to stay home and single for the rest of my life to fully enjoy it!

I’m so busy too right now, sucks when school gets in the way of your life, right?! haha

Amy’s Tomato Bisque soup is the bomb.com and most other Amy’s soups rock as well…also Progresso makes bangin’ veggie soups, and they’re cheap to boot! ;)

  40. 2009 October 7

I am thinking of shortening my blog title to Backstage Pass to Health (Dropping the ‘Happiness’) – what do you think?
